Pastry Bakery (Ijevan,group #5-05-01-001-24R4)
It’s hard for Marietta Ghazaryan not to tempt visitors to her bakery with samples of her traditional Armenian pastries. Marietta has grown her business substantially using Kamurj loans and is in her 10th cycle as a borrower. She sells directly from her shop as well as in the central market and supplies to hotels and restaurants
in the city. She says, “I doesn’t need to advertise as the number of customers just keep increasing by word of mouth.” In order to continue the growth of her business, Marietta plans to purchase a new location for her bakery that will allow her to expand her business and attract new customers.

Carpentry (Gyumri, group # 2-02-08-010-16R4)
Akhasy Danielyan’s family furniture business is growing with the help of Kamurj loans. For the past 13 loan cycles, Akhasy (pictured on the right) has used the funds to invest in wood and supplies to create beautiful handcrafted furniture that he sells on consignment through local shops or directly to his growing list of customers. This is truly a family business employing both Akhasy’s father and his son. In the future, Akhasy
hopes to move all of his woodworking machinery into a proper carpentry shop so that he can work indoors year round.

Agricultural Diversity (Ijevan, group # 5-30-04-003-12VM)
Somewhat unusual for a rural farmer in Armenia, Akob Shahinyan has a master’s degree
in agriculture. His farm is located in Aygehovit village, close to the border with Azerbaijan. Akob says, “in order to be a successful farmer one has to diversify,” and diversify he has. Akob and his wife have 22 cows, chickens, pigs, a fish pond and he is experimenting with
raising turkeys. He has a variety of fruit trees, including figs. Akob has been a client of Kamurj for 3 years and uses his loans to buy fertilizers, fodder and bird feed.
